Opportunities for Lutherans
Lenoir-Rhyne is North Carolina's only Lutheran University. What a wonderful opportunity for Lutherans to be able to earn a four-year degree at a private institution with a solid reputation for educating the mind, body and soul.
At Lenoir-Rhyne, the opportunities for Lutheran students are endless. Lutherans have the advantage of being able to participate in several denomination-oriented financial aid options.
Martin Luther Fellows
The Martin Luther Fellows Scholarship Program is made possible by gifts to the NC synod-wide Our College - Our Future campaign.
The program, available only for undergraduate North Carolina ELCA students, is designed to recognize the outstanding contributions to church and community and the overall merit of rising high school seniors, and to encourage those individuals to attend Lenoir-Rhyne.
- Selections are made by a local congregational committee with guidance from the University's admissions office.
- The recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship annually for four years as long as normal academic progress toward graduation is maintained. Scholarship recipients are eligible for additional financial aid including grants, loans and other scholarships.
- The Financial Aid office requires all students to annually complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to receive additional monies.
- Committees are asked to make their selections as early as possible. Candidates will have to meet the University's minimum standards for admission. Contact the Office of Enrollment Management at 1-800-277-5721 for details on applying to and acceptance by L-R.

Friends In Faith
You can take part in L-R's relationship with the Lutheran Church through the Friends in Faith program for church members who attend the University.
- All full-time undergraduate Lutheran students are eligible. Lenoir-Rhyne will match awards from congregations up to a maximum of $250 per semester for eight semesters. This could result in an annual grant of $1,000 ($500 from your congregation and $500 from L-R.) This award can be used to cover tuition costs only.
- As with all of our scholarship programs, participants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to receive the Friends in Faith award. In order for your church's contribution to be matched by the University, churches must send payments by July 1st of each year. Only church checks will be accepted.
